Bikes, Boats and Bridges

The river Thames does not flow naturally, it is managed from Lechlade down to the estuary east of London.
These mechanisms to regulate the water fascinate me; regular patterns and rigid forms in contrast to the water and the wooded riverbanks. Undisturbed, peaceful glimpses like this one are rare and precious in the early morning, as weirs are usually busy with boats and powerful flumes of water.

The sky often has a principal role in my photographs, with landscape to ground us in the image. The river Thames reflects big skies and leaves me full of wonder at the scene before as I come around the bend into Wallingford
